COACHES
Michael Pieroni, Head Coach
Head Coach Michael Pieroni has helped expand the Boston
Athletic Association's rich tradition of athletic accomplishment.
As a former competitive runner himself, together with
his valuable experience as a coach and extensive knowledge
of the New England running community, Coach Pieroni
assists B.A.A. athletes in their development and improvement.
Pieroni joined the B.A.A. in the fall of 1997, following
a decorated four-year stint as an assistant coach with
the Boston Running Club.
Jeffery Staab, Assistant
Coach
Since joining the Boston Athletic Association coaching
ranks during the spring of 1998, Jeff Staab has helped
guide the club to success in nearly every discipline
of running. Primarily responsible for the development
of the women's program, Staab has led the squad to triumphs
at the U.S. National Championships and New England Championships,
and has qualified individuals for the National Championships
and U.S. Olympic Trial events. Staab's recent accomplishments
are indicative of his overall running career, reflecting
a wealth of experience at the competitive, instructional,
and educational levels.
Suzanne Walmsley, Assistant
Coach
Working closely with Head Coach Michael Pieroni and
Assistant Coach Jeff Staab, Suzanne oversees the training
programs of our many road racers and marathoners, most
of whom train for the Boston Marathon. Suzanne has been
a competitive runner for more than fifteen years, hightlighted
by her all-American status in college. She has benefited
from a number of training programs and coaching styles,
and she offers the B.A.A. a training philosophy consistent
with the expectations and needs for individual improvement.
A Message from Coach Pieroni
Working with you to achieve your athletic goals and
aspirations is my main objective, and the continued
success of the B.A.A. Running Club is my primary mission.
Strong support from the B.A.A. and adidas continues
to make for a top-flight program. Assistant coaches
Jeff Staab and Suzanne Walmsley contribute to our philosophy
of fielding competitive teams and reaching individual
performance goals.
