B.A.A. athletes made their annual trip to New Haven, CT to compete in the New Haven 20k on Monday, September 1, 2008. The Labor Day race has served as the USATF 20k Championship over the last 16 years and annually attracts some of the top distance runners in the country. Placing well in the elite field was Kasie Enman who finished just outside the top ten in 11th place - the same place that she took in the U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials in April. In the men's competition, Eric Blake was the top B.A.A. finisher, the first Connecticut finisher, and 21st overall. The 2008 Mt. Washington Champion, Blake has a busy fall ahead of him: he will compete at the World Mountain Running Championships in Switzerland later this month and then compete at the Twin Cities Marathon in October. Also slated to race at Twin Cities is Patrick Stumbras where he will be competing in the USATF Master's National Marathon Championship. The 51-year old placed second in his age division at New Haven in an impressive 1:16:44. Meanwhile, here in Massachusetts, Patrick Moulton handily won the 75th Annual Cape Ann 25k. Moulton, who has recently returned to New England, was almost 8 minutes ahead of second place. Jonathan Fortescue and Mike McGrane also placed in the top 10 with Fortescue 5th and McGrane 10th overall. The next race on the schedule is the Ollie 5 Mile in South Boston on Saturday, September 6th. The Ollie is the penultimate race in the 2008 USATF New England Grand Prix. NEW HAVEN 20k RESULTS: 21.
