| A Masterful Marathon Day |
 |
| 10/7/2008 |
It wasn't the heat, but the humidity that affected the participants in the 2008 Twin Cities Marathon on Sunday, October 5th in Minneapolis, MN. Runners battled steady rain that never let up, a headwind, and temperatures in the high 40s. All in all not a great combination, but several B.A.A. athletes managed to have a decent day. Eric Blake, the reigning Mt. Washington Champion, placed 28th in 2:27:49; Brendan Prindiville was 42nd in 2:32:24; and Mark LaRosa was 54th in 2:35:56. The weather forced Matt Ely out at 20 miles. It was a better day for the B.A.A. masters marathoners, both at Twin Cities and in New England. Patrick Stumbras who was competing in the USATF National Master's Marathon Championship hosted by the Twin Cities Marathon, took 3rd place in his age group. At age 51, Stumbras was 117th overall and finished in 2:51:59. Closer to home, Jonathan Fortescue, who had originally planned to race at Twin Cities, competed instead at the Maine Marathon in Portland, ME on Sunday. His 2:39:27 earned him the Master's Title and he placed 5th overall. Visit the Event Website for Twin Cities Marathon Results. Visit the Event Website for Maine Marathon Results.
