Women's Cross Country Team Takes 3rd in the USATF National Club Championships
12/13/2008
High winds and low temperatures combined with light snow to make conditions miserable, but the B.A.A. women ran a strong race nonetheless, capturing the bronze at the USATF National Club Cross Country Championships in Spokane, WA on Saturday, December 13, 2008. It is probably no coincidence that Vermonter Kasie Enman led the team through the harsh conditions, placing 9th overall. Mariko Holbrook also posted a strong performance, finishing 25th overall. Veteran cross country runners, Brett Ely, Julie Spolidoro, and Mary Proulx, all finished in the top 50 to round out the sciring for the B.A.A.
If the weather made the women's race challenging, then the men's race can best be described as a true test of endurance. Dropping temperatures and increasing wind speeds left the men finishing with temperatures in the teens and a frigid wind-chill factor. The men placed 11th overall led by Mark Miller's 49th place finish.
