B.A.A. Runners Are Crowned 'National' Marathon Champions
3/22/2009
The B.A.A. went 2 for 2 as Patrick Moulton and Jeanette Seckinger won their respective races at the SunTrust National Marathon in Washington D.C. on Saturday, March 21, 2009. The pair came away, not only with the victory, but with new course records as well.
Moulton, who recently won the USATF New England Grand Prix 10-Mile Championship, won handily over last years winner and former course record holder. His time of 2:21:12 was almost a minute ahead of second place. What made the feat even more impressive was that he ran didn't take the lead until the 20-mile mark and ran the last 5 miles with his shoe untied!
Seckinger also won in course-record time, but had a battle to the finish, edging second place by a mere 5 seconds after leading most of the race. Her 2:48:39 was almost 6 minutes better than the previous course record.
