| B.A.A. Athletes Prepare for the Ninth Running of the B.A.A. Half Marathon |

The B.A.A. Men's, Women's, and Men's Master's Teams will be looking for their ninth consecutive team titles as they prepare to compete in the ninth running of the B.A.A. Half Marathon on Sunday, October 11, 2009. All three teams are poised to repeat their titles as each has several scorers returning from 2008. In the women's race, B.A.A. 5k Champion Maria Varela will again be joined by Lara Johnson, the B.A.A.'s top female finisher at the B.A.A. Half in '08, and Renee Knapp, who was also a scoring member of the 2008 championship women's team. Look for strong races from Kasie Enman and Mariko Holbrook to bolster the team's performance.
In the men's race, three of last years scorers, Josh Gordon, Andreas Heilmann, and Mike McGrane, will return to the competition. They will be joined by a talented list of competitors including newcomer Paul Ryan and veteran distance ace Terry Shea. The Men's Master's Team is deep with the return of the 2001 B.A.A. Half Marathon Champion, Wayne Levy along with Jon Fortescue, currently in third overall in the master's division in the USATF New England Grand Prix Championship Series. Also returning from last years wining team are Paul Davies, and Steve Liakos. Second in the Master's competition last year, Mike Vitelli scored on the Men's Open Team in 2008 and could be a factor in either team division on Sunday.
