It was deja vu all over again for the B.A.A. as Patrick Moulton and Jeannette Seckinger were dual champions at the Hartford Marathon in Hartford, CT on Saturday, October 10, 2009. The pair were also victorious at the 2009 National Marathon in Washington, D.C. in March. With their victories in Hartford, each claimed the title of "New England's Finest" as part of a program designed to highlight some of New England's best distance runners.
For Moulton, 2009 marked his second consecutive time on the winners podium at Hartford. In 2008, he emerged with a 14 second victory after a race to the wire. This year, he cruised to victory as his 2:25:22 was almost 4 minutes ahead of second place.
Seckinger also had a substantial margin of victory as she set yet another marathon PR. Her 2:46:33 was over 2 minutes faster than the PR she set at the National Marathon.
Also placing well in the marathon, John LaRosa finished tenth overall in 2:42:28. In the half marathon, Matt Ely was sixth in 1:10:00.
Moulton, Seckinger, and LaRosa were all highlighted as part of New England Runner's New England's Finest program. The program, run in conjunction with the Hartford Marathon, began in 2008 as an effort to recognize and reward outstanding runners who reside in New England.
