Men's & Women's Open Teams are Tops In Cross Again

The men's & women's open teams successfully defended their team titles at the 2009 USATF New England Cross Country Championship at Franklin Park on Sunday, November 8, 2009. The win marked the fourth consecutive victory for the men's team and the second consecutive for the women. In all, the men have won six of the last eight titles and the women have won seven of the last eleven championships.
Lucas Meyer's individual victory in the Men's 10k Championship highlighted what was a strong team performance. The men placed three in the top 10 with Brendan Callahan placing fourth and Brian Harvey in sixth place. Brendan Prindiville and Matthew Ely rounded out the scoring with their 11th and 13th place finishes.
In the Women's Championship 6k, Jeanette Seckinger was the top finisher for the B.A.A. with her third-place performance. As with the men, the women had three in the top ten: Kristin Murphy and Diana Bowser placed seventh and eighth respectively; Amy Gosztyla and Mariko Holbrook were 11th and 13th to complete the scoring.
The open teams will compete next at the USATF National Club Cross Country Championships in Lexington, KY on Saturday, December 12th. The meet will feature the top clubs from across the United States as they vie for top honors and bragging rights as the nation's top cross country team.
