Westover, Meyer Post Top 10 Finishes at the 2010 USATF Half Marathon Championship

It was a record-setting day down in Houston, TX and several B.A.A. athletes took advantage of ideal racing conditions as they kicked-off 2010 with some strong performances at the Houston Half Marathon on Sunday, January 17, 2010. The event served as the 2010 USATF Half Marathon Championship.
Heidi Westover took seventh in the women's race running 1:12:59. The race was won in a course record time of 1:09:41 by Olympic Bronze Medalist and American record-holder Shalane Flanagan. Westover was a mere 37 seconds behind Olympic marathoner Magdalena Lewey Boulet.
In the men's race, Lucas Meyer placed tenth overall in the competitive field with a time of 1:03:51. Also competing for the B.A.A. were Paul Ryan, who placed 25th overall in 1:06:47; Will Dobbie, who was 33rd in 1:08:37; and Ben Schmeckpeper, who ran 1:09:07, placing 37th.
