114 for the 114th! B.A.A. Members to Compete at the Boston Marathon

Some 114 Boston Athletic Association Running Club members are preparing to line up in Hopkinton for the 114th Boston Marathon on Monday, April 19, 2010.
The number of B.A.A. running club members participating is a fitting tribute to a race that was founded by B.A.A. club members who had been inspired by the 1896 Olympic Marathon. This year, the world's oldest annually contested marathon will fall on its traditional start date of April 19th - Patriots' Day. It was only in 1969, when the Patriots' Day observance was designated as the third Monday in April, that Marathon Monday was born.
